Saturday was a big day for the sport of boxing, with several major events featuring some of the sport's best fighters.
Two undisputed championships were on the line as well as former heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder returning to action for the first time since losing back-to-back fights to Tyson Fury.
The day kicked off with Claressa Shields scoring a win over old rival Savannah Marshall in London to become undisputed women's middleweight champion. In Melbourne, Australia, Devin Haney outworked George Kambosos to earn a decision win and retain his status and undisputed lightweight champion. Then everything wrapped up in Brooklyn with some savage violence as Wilder needed less than one round to score a brutal knockout of Robert Helenius for his first win since November 2019.
Wilder started slowly but as soon as Helenius committed to an attack, a huge right hand came back his way and ended things with 10 seconds of the round left.
Wilder is now on course to fight Andy Ruiz Jr next year.

Wilder made his pro debut in 2008. He won the WBC heavyweight title in 2015 against Bermane Stiverne. It was a unanimous decision win, the first of his career in 33 fights. Wilder defended the title 10 times, with a draw against Tyson Fury in the middle of those defenses.
Wilder lost to Fury in a rematch in February 2020 via TKO. In their trilogy fight last October, Fury knocked out Wilder in the 11th round to retain the WBC title.
Helenius made his pro debut in 2008. The former European heavyweight champion is 7-2 in his last nine fights. After losing to Gerald Washington in July 2019, he beat Mateus Roberto Osorio in November of that year. In the last major boxing bout before the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020, Helenius beat Adam Kownacki via TKO in what was considered an upset.
