Liverpool have home advantage in the first leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final tie as they host Fulham at Anfield tonight.
Jurgen Klopp's side, who sit top of the Premier League, are favourites to lift the first piece of domestic silverware on offer, and will be eyeing a strong result to take to Craven Cottage for the second leg in a fortnight's time.

Liverpool: Without Salah and Alexander-Arnold, the front three will be critical. A combination of Cody Gakpo, Diogo Jota, Luis Diaz, and Diogo Jota will both need to bring creativity and goals. Klopp may need to experiment with defenders without Andrew Robertson and Alexander-Arnold but a cup match is a great time to do it.
Fulham: Without Alex Iwobi who is on international duty with Nigeria, Fulham's creativity will take a hit. While Tom Cairney can step in and do a job most of the load will fall to Raul Jimenez and Andreas Pereira. Liverpool go into this match full of confidence, having beaten Arsenal in the FA Cup over the weekend, but they will be without the injured Trent Alexander-Arnold and Mohamed Salah, who is away with Egypt at the Africa Cup of Nations.

The Reds are top of the Premier League, in the last 16 of the Europa League, in the FA Cup last 32 and are heavy favorites to win the League Cup trophy for the second time in three seasons. Liverpool have won the trophy a record nine times and Klopp is hungry for more as his revamped side has seen plenty of youngsters step up in recent weeks as injuries have begun to pile up. Yes, Mohamed Salah is missing as he’s away on AFCON duty and they’re also missing Trent Alexander-Arnold to injury, but Liverpool are still capable of taking a big lead with them to Craven Cottage for the second leg.
Speaking of Fulham, Marco Silva’s side led 3-2 late on in the league at Anfield in December but ended up losing 4-3 in a wild game full of stunning goals. They will try to keep it tight and give Liverpool more than a scare and a draw to take back with them to west London would be a great result. Fulham have never won a major trophy in their history and they have never reached the final of this competition. It’s a big ask but given some of the absentees Liverpool have right now, Fulham will fancy their chances of an upset.
Fulham have never won a major trophy and face an uphill task to reach the final at Wembley next month, but pushed Liverpool all the way at Anfield when these sides met in the League earlier this season.
