Liverpool vs Manchester City: Live stream, TV channel, kick-off time & where to watch

How to watch and stream Liverpool against Manchester City on TV and online in the United States, United Kingdom & India.

Liverpool are set to take on Manchester City in a Premier League encounter at Anfield on October 16, 2022. While the Reds head into this fixture on the back of a convincing 7-1 win against Rangers in the UEFA Champions League, City were held to a goalless stalemate by FC Copenhagen.

The two teams have been in contrasting form this season. While Pep Guardiola's troops continue to challenge Arsenal for the number one position, Liverpool are languishing in 10th. Jurgen Klopp's side have won just twice in the league and have not tasted victory in their last three outings. However, Liverpool's midweek performance at Ibrox will instill hope in their fans. Mohamed Salah scored a hat-trick, Roberto Firmino got a brace, and Darwin Nunez also got on the scoresheet.

City have already netted 33 times in just nine games. Their Norwegian talisman Erling Haaland was rested against Copenhagen for the first time this season and will be eager to continue his incredible recent scoring record. He has been shattering records left, right and centre in the Premier League and his goal against Southampton made him the fastest player to reach 15 strikes in the competition's history.

Storylines

Liverpool: Just when things were looking up for the Reds, Ibrahima Konate faces a late fitness test for the match. With Joel Matip and Trent Alexander-Arnold ruled out, this gives Jurgen Klopp quite a decision at center back. If Konate can't go, Joe Gomez has been at right back but could need to shift inside with James Milner starting on the flank. Calvin Ramsay has returned to training as well but this could be too large of a match for him to make his Liverpool debut in.

Naby Keita, Curtis Jones and Arthur Melo will all miss the match, so Liverpool's midfield is also thin but the big blow will be the loss of Luis Diaz. The Colombian winger has been ever present for the Reds but without him, Diogo Jota, Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino, and Nunez will need to be on their game to test the City defense.

Manchester City: John Stones is still sidelined for City but with Manuel Akanji fitting the team like a glove, he won't be missed too much during the match. Kyle Walker and Kalvin Phillips are also out with long term injuries but Pep Guardiola's biggest decision will be how he wants to setup the attack after resting Haaland and Foden during Champions League play against Copenhagen.

Liverpool vs Manchester City: match preview

Liverpool’s thumping midweek win over Rangers has left the Reds on the cusp of qualification for the Champions League last 16, but in the Premier League they’re lagging majorly. Defeat to Arsenal last weekend left the Reds 14 points adrift of the top, and six points off the top four.

The 3-2 reverse at the Emirates Stadium was Liverpool’s third straight league game without a win, and the Merseysiders must now attempt to arrest that negative sequence against a Manchester City team that remains unbeaten in the English top flight this term.

Liverpool did beat City in the Community Shield in July - their fourth game in a row without losing to Pep Guardiola’s men - but that victory comes with the caveat that the English football season’s curtain-raiser is essentially a glorified friendly. Jürgen Klopp’s side will also face a rather more in-form Erling Haaland; in his 12 City appearances since drawing a blank in an underwhelming debut at the King Power Stadium, the Norwegian has scored 20 goals.

City, who sealed their place in the Champions League knockout stages in a 0-0 draw against FC Copenhagen on Tuesday, go into Premier League matchday 11 trailing leaders Arsenal by one point. The Sky Blues have won their last three league games - including a 6-3 derby mauling of Manchester United - and have netted 13 goals in the process.
